The Genesis of NovusIn the early 1990s, the Managing Director of Novus Capital Limited, Mr Wayne Gooley, established a corporate advisory and capital raising services group within one of Australia’s largest retail financial planning and stockbroking organisations, Bridges Financial Services (now part of the ASX listed group Australian Wealth Management Limited), where he was responsible for all of its corporate advisory and capital raising mandates. He then took the opportunity in 2001 to set up a boutique investment and financial services company specialising in corporate advisory and share trading services to small to medium sized public and ASX listed companies, privately owned businesses and private clients. After a period of time, the company changed its name to Axis Financial Group (Australia) Limited and while under that name the company, and the range of products and services it provided, grew significantly. Following a group review and a number of strategic investments, including the 50% acquisition of the finance and business news media platform, Finance News Network, the decision was taken in June 2006 to change the name and re-position the company to better reflect the corporate products and services it now offers. A new name, a new approach led to the choice of Novus, a Latin word embracing the concept of newness. |
